The excavation at Sri Suryapahar in Goalpara district of Assam during the years 1992-93 to 2000-01 has yielded two temple complexes along with large number of antiquities ranging from c. 6th to c. 12th century AD. One of the excavated temple complexes is a brick built temple aligned in north-south orientation. Here a rectangular enclosure wall is found enclosed with the remains of several brick structures including the sanctum

sanctorum and porch of a temple remains. Antiquities found from this site are mainly terracotta tiles and plaques.

The other temple complex is located near an ancient tank. This stone temple complex is found within a quadrangular brick enclosure. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple complex is located on the eastern side of the complex. There are four subsidiary shrines within the temple complex. Notable antiquities from the area include sculpture of Mahisasuramardini, Ganesha and a few stone architectural members.
